Avonmore Planning & Development Committee. The Board of the Avonmore Community League approved the formation of a Community League Planning and Development Committee. The need for such a committee comes from recent developments in Avonmore and surrounding areas and anticipation of new developments. We want to respond effectively to planning matters and to be more proactive attracting the kind of development we want in our community.

We have a committee of 12 right now. We had our first meeting in November and plan to meet about once a month on Saturday mornings.

If you are interested in joining the committee contact Anita at or Leigh

Abundant Communities.
We are bringing the Abundant Communities initiative to Avonmore in 2019!

ACE is a citizen-led and City-supported framework that facilitates community building starting at the block level. The ACE vision includes neighbours forming strong, caring and supportive blocks and neighbourhoods where we look out for one another, share our talents, skills and resources, do activities together, and collectively create the neighbourhoods we desire.

We will be officially launching ACE in Avonmore in the late Spring and will be looking for many enthusiastic volunteers to make this initiative successful. Keep your eyes on the Avonmore Facebook page and our next newsletter for more information on ACE and how you can get involved. If you’re interested in learning more, email Wendy at

Avonmore Rink
Our rink is now open! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it one of the first community rinks to be open in the city this winter.
The rink shack will be open from 4 -8 on weekdays and noon until 8 on weekends starting Tuesday, December 11th - as long as we have volunteers available.

If you have 2-3 hours to spare once a week, once every two weeks or once a month please let us know. We need people at the rink shack to open it up so skaters can come in to warm up and to ensure the safety and security of skaters and the property. You can come and skate while you volunteer. Contact to volunteer.
